World's First1 Onboard Memory Feature For small/home offices and small meeting spaces M-5 Compact Memory Copyboard Goes on Sale
Starting March 2004, PLUS Vision Corp. (Home office: Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Eiji Shintaku), which boasts a greater than 30% share of the copyboard market2, will launch sales of the M-5, the world's first1 compact copyboard with a built-in memory feature allowing content written on the board to be stored directly to the board. The M-5 is aimed at opening a new market for copyboards, by offering a copyboard that can be used in small/home offices, meeting booths, managers' offices, and other locations where cramped quarters previously made copyboards impractical. The company's worldwide sales target is 6,000 units in the first year, and 10,000 units in the next.
The M-5 unit is 1,175 x 93 x 708 mm (WxDxH), and weights 12.5 kg. This compact, lightweight model has roughly half the board area and weight of the M-10, our standard model for conference-room use. The board can be easily set up or carried by two adults. Wall-mounted and stand types (both standing and horizontal) are available, depending on available space and intended use.
The contents of the board can be saved to built-in memory as image files3. The memory has a capacity to store from about 10 to 20 boards' worth of content. The board contents can be saved by a simple press of a button, allowing you to easily save quick memos and ideas you have jotted down, extending their usefulness. Sending the data to a PC is a snap ? just connect to it via a USB cable4. Once on your computer, the data is very easy to use: share your images by attaching them to emails as-is, paste them into minutes and other documents, and more.
You can also save the board contents directly to a Compact Flash (CF) card. This is perfect when security is a priority, or when you have large amounts of data to save.
Changes to the frame and elsewhere, reduction of the number of parts, and other innovations have allowed us to offer the M-5 with stand for a reasonable price as copyboard. This accessible price puts the M-5 in range of what you might pay as a substitute for a whiteboard.
The board's internal image capture lamp uses a cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) of the type used in LCDs and the like. The lamp lifetime of roughly 10 years (about 15,000 hours) saves the hassle of changing the lamp every two or three years required with previous models, and greatly reducing your planning costs.
The M-5 uses a sleek aluminum frame design. The frame provides strength, while adding an understated design touch to your office interior.
