Translation of the UPIC FAQ

What is the warranty coverage for the panel and the digital pen?
It depends upon the region of purchase. Please contact your local distributor.

Is there a one year maintenance contract available for the UPIC?
No. If there is need of repair, we handle each incident on a case by case basis.

How do I clean the surface of the panel?
Wipe the surface with a damp cloth. See the manual for detailed instructions.

Can I still use the panel if it is becomes scratched or gouged?
It is possible that the digital pen may not recognize the coordinates at the part of the board where the damage has occurred. However, the rest of the panel should work normally.

If torn, can I purchase only the sheet portion of the panel?
No. Please contact your local service center if the sheet portion of the UPIC needs to be replaced.

Can I use dry-erase markers with the panel? If so, can I use any brand of a dry-erase marker?
Yes. However, we recommend the use of our exclusive dry-erase markers for best erasability.

Can I save the contents written with the dry-erase markers to my computer?
No. You can only save the contents drawn by a digital pen to your computer.

Why is the exclusive PLUS eraser better than others?
The exclusive eraser is made of a special material for better erasability.

What is the average battery life for the digital pen?
During continuous drawing – approx. 5 hours; In stand-by – approx. 150 hours (with the cap removed)

What type of battery is used for the digital pen?
One AAA alkaline battery.

What happens if the cap to the digital pen is left off?
If the cap is removed and the digital pen has not been used for more than 7 minutes, the pen turns itself off automatically. Once you attach the cap and then remove it, the digital pen will work again.

If the cap of the digital pen breaks, do I have to buy an entire new pen?
No. Caps may be purchased separately as a service part.

What kind of technology is used for the wireless connection between the digital pen and a computer?
It uses Bluetooth® wireless communication.

What is “paring”?
“Pairing” is establishing a wireless connection between the computer and the digital pen.

Is a USB Bluetooth® adaptor included?
No. If your computer does not have built-in Bluetooth® functionality, you must purchase a USB Bluetooth® adaptor separately.

How do I know if my computer has built-in Bluetooth® or not?
Check your computer’s operation manual or contact your computer manufacturer.

What will happen if I use a USB Bluetooth® adaptor with my computer when my computer already has built-in Bluetooth®?
It is possible that the Bluetooth® function will be unstable. Therefore, make sure you don’t use a Bluetooth® adaptor if your computer already has built-in Bluetooth®.

Can I use a USB Bluetooth® adaptor with a USB hub?
No. Using a USB hub may cause instability of the Bluetooth® operation.

Can I pair a digital pen with multiple computers?
No. Only one connection with a computer can be established at a time. Therefore, when you want to pair the pen with another computer, you must cancel the connection with the original computer first.

Copyboard relarted

The sheet has darkened, through having been used for a long time. How can I clean it?
Soak a cloth in a solution of water and neutral cleaning fluid, and wipe the sheet with the cloth once it has been wrung out.
Glass cleaner and organic solvents will damage the screen, so please do not use them.

When printing out using the BF-030W, do the contents written on the screen get compressed?
They will be compressed width ways when printed out.

I want to change a floor-standing Copyboard with a T-shaped stand into one with an L-shaped stand. Is it possible?
If you change a T-shaped stand into an L-shaped one, you will need to attach the upper part of the Copyboard to a wall.
We are not able to accept any liability for this process, and the necessary work should be carried out at your own risk.
If you would like to purchase a model with an L-shaped stand instead, please contact the Dealer responsible for your area.

How soon does the BF-030's Power Management come into operation?
If no key is touched for an hour, the fluorescent light goes out.
If a key is touched again, it comes back on.

Can standard FAX paper be used in place of the Copyboard's heat sensitive paper?
We recommend that you use genuine PLUS heat sensitive paper.
Standard FAX paper is of different dimensions, and some cannot be used with the Copyboard.
Please understand that we cannot guarantee any repairs to a Copyboard that are precipitated by the use of non-genuine paper.

How do I change the format of images, which I have accessed using the PC interface kit, from bitmap to other formats?
By using graphics software, you should be able to change the images into JPEG or gif format and save them like that.

Can I purchase just the sponge part for the eraser?
Unfortunately we are not selling the sponges individually.

Which is the smallest model that can be used with the PC interface kit?
The flip-chart style BF-060.

Is it possible to take the BF-030 apart to transport it, for example if we move building?
The screen and the stand are easily separable.
